Local Bookshops

Waterstones

159 Commercial St, Newport NP20 1JQ, UK – 01633 223977

Has a great variety of books. I went in there for the first time the other day as I am looking to get into reading more books. It's a very good option to buy books when starting off.

Very helpful staff. Just ordered a book. No fuss. Good place to go for your needs.

Shepherds Christian Bookshop

131-132 Lower Dock St, Newport NP20 1EG, UK – 01633 259222

Friendly staff, good selection of books and also great selection of gifts - probably the best selection in South Wales! One thing I particularly like is that it has a 2nd hand book section - worth popping in just to see if there're any treasures there!

Negative Zone

The Provision Market, Newport NP20 1DD, UK – 01633 222159

Great comic shop owned by a friendly and enthusiastic comic fan. This place has been going for decades and has recently changed hands but continues to be an excellent source for new releases and back issues, including independents. Anything he hasn’t got in, he’s happy to order and reserve. Whether you’re returning to comics (like me), never stopped reading or have seen a film or series and wondered about the source material - this is a great place for purchases, advice or chat. Comixology, Amazon and Forbidden Planet won’t miss you or care but small businesses do. Support your local comic shop!
